Parking fees protest starts

27th of April, 2026

A new sign has gone up at the entrance to Lever Park protesting about the potential new parking charges by Louise Beardsmore’s United Utilities. Residents and visitors will be concerned about the latest attempt by UU to make money out of Rivington  (remember the failed Glamping Site attempt?). Anybody who has seen Dirty Business on C5 will be interested to hear how "the free and uninterrupted enjoyment by the public" as stated in the 1902 Liverpool Corporation Act will be honoured by the custodians of Lever Park – currently UU though apparently they intend to imminently try and wash their hands of this responsibility and cost by passing this on to the charity they created , Rivington Heritage Trust. Hope their water is clean.
