Fire on Rivington Moor

Six fire engines were in attendance to a fire on the moor off Sheephouse Lane / Rivington Road yesterday evening. Rivington Road / Sheephouse Lane was closed at the Black Dog Pub in Belmont and at the Pigeon Tower car park. Thanks to the efforts of 20 Firefighters plus United Utilities staff damping down the area at midnight and in the early hours of today it was extinguished. However the forecast is for lots more sunny weather with no significant rainfall so we've all got to be alert and report any fires ASAP.
